Indoor Air Quality Services in Clackamas, OR

With improvements in modern HVAC technology, you might be surprised to know that your indoor air quality is probably much lower than you think. While today’s HVAC systems are more efficient, homes are sealed better than ever. Yet with air continually recirculating in your home, it’s possible for particulates to concentrate, which can render the air in your home 2 to 5 times more polluted than the air outside your home.

At Control Techs NW, we have more than 28 years of industry experience in HVAC systems, from minor repairs to major installations. Our goal has always been to provide customers with the best possible craftsmanship and personalized attention. We have a number of ways you can help improve your home’s indoor air quality. Our technicians will ensure the work gets done properly and quickly.

Air Purification Systems

One of the first steps to improving your home’s indoor air quality is to upgrade your filters. While most HVAC systems are built to use 1” air filters, they can allow smaller particles into your ductwork, including pet dander, mold spores, pollen, bacteria, and more. At Control Techs NW, we have a few different air filtration systems that can capture more of those airborne particles, which will help make your air cleaner.

The first is called an electrostatic filter. In this system, the air is blown into an ionizing chamber, where the particles suspended in the air are given a positive charge. The air then moves through an electrified filter, which has a negative charge. This filter attracts the positively charged particles, trapping them in the filter and cleaning the air.

We also offer a High-Efficiency Particulate Air (HEPA) filtration system. This system works much like a traditional air filter, except HEPA filters are so small that they can trap up to 99.97% of particles that pass through them. This captures particles as small as 0.3 microns! Not only does this catch dirt and other particles, but it can also remove many viruses and bacteria from the air.

Both of these systems can be used in combination with UV light, which kills biological agents using UV rays. These lights can be installed on both AC coils and in your air ducts, where they not only help make your air cleaner but also help improve your HVAC system’s performance by eliminating unwanted bacterial and fungal growth before it can start.

Whole-Home Humidification

Humidity is an often overlooked part of your home’s indoor air quality. However, keeping your home’s humidity at the right level can make your home much more comfortable while also preventing damage to your home’s interior.

Whole-home humidifiers are installed directly into your HVAC system as well as your home’s plumbing. The humidifier uses your home’s water supply to add the right amount of humidity to your air, which is distributed through your ductwork. This means that moisture is evenly distributed throughout your home. Whole-home humidifiers also provide dehumidification to help draw moisture out of the air when needed. The excess water then drains into your home’s existing plumbing.

Duct Cleaning

One of the simplest ways to improve your home’s air quality is with a professional duct cleaning service. With Control Techs NW, we use a negative pressure technique to pull the built-up dust and debris out of your vents. We seal your registers, hook up a large vacuum and use compressed air and long brushes to clean your ducts.

While homeowners can reach some areas of their ducts, only a professional duct cleaning can thoroughly clean your entire ventilation system. With duct cleaning from Control Techs NW, you’ll notice a difference in your indoor air quality almost immediately.

Furnace and AC Tune-Ups

It’s essential for homeowners to have their HVAC equipment tuned up every year, with your furnace tune-up in the fall and your AC tune-up every spring. During these service calls, your HVAC technician will go over your entire system, looking for developing problems while making small repairs to worn parts and loose connections before cleaning your entire system.

These tune-ups are about more than just peace of mind—they can prevent your system from catastrophic failure. And because many equipment warranties require annual service, you’ll also ensure you stay in compliance, which could save you a lot of money in the long run.
